Florida iMapInvasives Data Standard

iMapInvasives currently contains four conceptual record types:


  1. Observation - a minimal point record of just a species, a date, and the observer

  2. Assessment - a polygon with a more detailed record characterizing an invasive species observation, related 1:1 to observation

  3. Survey - a polygon delimiting an area searched for a species, creates a record of where target species was undetected, related 1:many to observation

  4. Treatment - a polygon delimiting treatment efforts, related 1:many to observation

The table below defines a set of core fields used in FNAI's data dictionary. This data dictionary can be used to collect data associated with observations or assessments or to evaluate treatment work. The treatment evaluation fields are not currently available in iMap but hopefully will be developed before too long.

Scattered dense patches - Dense patches of a single species scattered within the gross area infested.
Dominant cover - Multiple plants or clumps of a single species that occupy a majority of the gross area infested.
Dense monoculture - Generally a dense stand of a single dominant species that not only occupies more than a majority of the gross area infested, but also covers/excludes other plants.
Linearly scattered - Plants or clumps of a single species generally scattered along a linear feature, such as a road, trail, property line, ditch, ridge, slough, etc. within the gross area infested.
